Company cars – Malta

You can drive your company car registered in another EU country without registering it in Malta for a period not exceeding 7 months, provided that under the Identity Card and other Identity Documents Act and the Immigration Act:

  • your normal residence is outside Malta and that you do not have a legal valid identification document or
  • you are obliged to be in possession of a legally valid identification document or
  • you have not been issued with a residence permit

Private use of your company car

You can drive your company car in Malta for private purposes.

Lending your company car to a family member

When you use your company car temporarily in Malta, you can lend it to your spouse or dependent children, as long as they do not have a legal valid identification document issued in terms of the Identity Card and other Identity Documents Act (CAP 258).
