Statistics

Updated 05/2011

Businesses are legally obliged to provide information on their activities so the authorities can compile statistics. The scope of data to be submitted varies from one EU country to another.

All EU countries collect their own data, which is verified and analysed by national statistical authorities. National data is then passed on to the EU statistics office, Eurostat, which consolidates and publishes it free of charge.

European statistics can help companies evaluate markets and develop commercial strategies.
