Helping businesses

In Finland, there are many public services relating to conducting business available to businesses. These free of charge services cover the whole country, and the service providers also have branches abroad.

Enterprise Finland is a service for businesses and people who are interested in entrepreneurship, coordinated by the Ministry of Employment and the Economy. It is free to users and brings together in one place all the statutory and publicly funded products and services aimed at businesses. It also offers a telephone helpline, electronic forms and other electronic administration.

Private organisations

The Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK) represents companies of all sizes in all private sectors of industry.

The Federation of Finnish Enterprises is the largest central organisation for industry, with 115,000 corporate members. They include companies from the retail, transport, services, manufacturing and contracting sectors. The membership structure corresponds to the Finnish business structure. Half the corporate members are sole traders, and half are employers.

Public-private organisations

The SME Foundation promotes business management expertise for SMEs. The SME Foundation is a private organisation that is partly government funded.

The Central Chamber of Commerce influences social development in order to improve economic operating conditions, and it monitors the opportunities that industry has to influence legislation and the activities of the authorities. It coordinates and supports the activities of Chambers of Commerce, promotes external trade, nurtures contact with Chambers of Commerce in other countries, and approves auditors and other experts, and monitors their work.

Public organisations

Invest in Finland acquires foreign direct investment (FDI) for Finland. Invest in Finland helps foreign businesses to find business opportunities in Finland. The organisation provides information about Finland as an investment object, and develops and coordinates national procurement of foreign investment by networking with regional and international players.

EnterpriseHelsinki is a centre for new businesses aimed at serving entrepreneurs and prospective business owners in the Helsinki area.

Suomi.fi is a shared online public administration service containing useful information for people living in Finland.

The Info Bank website is a source of important basic information for immigrants on the opportunities that Finland has to offer.

Access to finance is crucial for setting up and running a business.
