YES – Fees may be charged for residence documents, as long as they don't exceed what nationals pay for similar documents, such as identity cards.

When registering her residence with the local police in Denmark, my fiancée was asked to provide proof that she is in a lasting relationship with me. Can the police request such proof? Open Close

YES – As your unmarried/non-registered partner, your fiancée does not enjoy an automatic right of residence in Denmark. The Danish authorities are therefore entitled to ask her to provide proof of her lasting relationship with you.

Can we be required to submit a certified translation of our marriage certificate or our daughter's birth certificate? Open Close

YES – You can obtain these documents through the consular services of your country.
