Must themed attractions simply be entertainment? Can they offer nothing more than another opportunity to spend time with beloved franchises... or can they do something more to connect visitors with the real world around them, outside a park's gates?

Neven Mimica, EU Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, invites you to visit the EU pavilion at Expo 2015 Milano.

On 22 May, our Commissioner General David Wilkinson, welcomed Karmenu Vella, European Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, and renowned Italian chef Gualtiero Marchesi at the EU pavilion.

Bringing together key actors such as producers, researchers, NGOs and consumers, the event "Fish farming in Europe: a model for the future" looked at how European aquaculture can help meet the ever growing demand for fish.

The date is April 28 1906; Milan is the host of the first World Expo in Italy. From 28 April  to 11 November, the event commemorated the creation of the Simplon Tunnel, by dedicating the Expo theme to  ‘transport’. Expo 1906 paid homage to the railway tunnel that connects Italy with Switzerland.
