Problems of Chemical Safety of Food and Drinks

According to the studies of World Health Organization (WHO), at present about 40% of diseases in the world are due to the ecological stresses. One of the most important contributions to this figure is the chemical contamination of food and drinks.

On 22 June, we hosted the event “Problems of Chemical Safety of Food and Drinks” where discussing the situation with contamination of basic food and drinks with the most important organic, inorganic and organometallic toxicants. The priority attention was devoted to Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), forbidden to production and use by the 2001 Stockholm Convention, as well as to the Persistent Toxic Substances (PTS), added to the Stockholm List in the last decade by the UN Working Group.
