"The Golden Ear" film trailer has been officially released

The European pavilion has officially released the trailer of the animated short film “The Golden Ear”, which follows the captivating story of “Sylvia & Alex”, is set for its debut at the European pavilion at the World Expo Milano 2015, in May. The film will be presented in a multimedia special effects theatre, offering visitors the chance to experience a unique perspective on Europe like never before.

The film will portray the European Union's active participation at this year’s Expo Milano 2015, communicating the theme: "Growing Europe's Future Together for a Better World", representing an European Union which is closer and more intact with its citizens. Closely linking with the Expo theme, "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life" - "The Golden Ear" will give the European pavilion visitors a true interactive viewing experience while showcasing key European policies and actions linked to the pavilion's theme.

Introducing the two protagonists of the "The Golden Ear", despite coming from polar opposite backgrounds, Sylvia & Alex find themselves striving toward a common goal. Sylvia: a logical scientist, is whisked away from her urban lifestyle to the responsibility of her grandmother's bakery in a small village, and Alex: a traditional, handsome countryman looks to capture her drifting attention, determined to fill the void in his heart.

Following the trials and tribulations on the path to create the perfect honey wheat bread, Sylvia & Alex charismatically represent the European DNA through struggle, evolution and resilience. Combining the essence of wheat and bread, Sylvia & Alex will guide the European Union pavilion visitors through EU food policies and promising technologies of the future through the ups and downs of the anticipated animated short film “The Golden Ear”.

With a combined amount of over 38,000 hours of work contributed toward film production, and more than 50 experts from an array of professional and specialised fields and backgrounds, "The Golden Ear" is set to contribute in setting the tone for a lasting legacy by the European Union at Expo Milano 2015. Encompassing the theme of the World Expo, ensuring food security and promoting quality food by feeding the planet, maintaining sustainability and shaping the global debate toward ending world hunger.
