EU at Expo 2015 meets the European Council of Young Farmers

On 15 December, our Deputy Commissioner General Giancarlo Caratti presented the EU participarion at Expo 2015 to the members of the European Council of Young Farmers (CEJA) in Brussels. Founded in 1958, CEJA represents about 2 million young farmers across the EU and it is currently working on an international young farmer's manifesto that will be launched at Expo 2015.

During the meeting, we explained our plans for the EU pavilion at Expo 2015, the work of the Steering Committee and the initiative of the Italian Minister of Agriculture Maurizio Martina to launch a "Charter of Milan" before Expo, which can be subscribed by the Expo visitors. Moreover, as suggested by the current chairman of CEJA Mr. Matteo Bartolini, a meeting of the presidents of the associations of young farmers from all the participating countries will be organised in Milan, during Expo,  to discuss the manifesto.

In his presentation, our Deputy Commissioner General emphasised the importance of the link between science and agriculture, which is epitomised in the two characters of Alex and Sylvia, and invited the participants to spread the message across their networks.
