EU and ESN join forces - press conference

Today we held a press-conference in the Italian Representation of the European Commission at the Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan, to present the collaboration between EU at Expo 2015 and ESN. The conference was attended by Matteo Fornara, Director of the EU Pavilion at Expo 2015, Bruno Marasà, Director of the Office of Milan of the European Parliament, Francesco Laera, press secretary of the Representation of the European Commission, Professor Maria Luisa Lavitrano Bicocca University in representation of universities in Milan, Fabrizio Grillo society Expo and Carlo Bitetto, responsible for ESN Italy.

During the conference, it was said that young people are going to be the protagonists of the activities of the EU pavilion, thanks to the collaboration between the European Union and the Erasmus Student Network (ESN).

The Erasmus Programme is a European Union student exchange programme established in 1987. Erasmus Plus is the new programme combining all the EU's current schemes for education, training, youth and sport, due to begin in January 2014. ESN is present in 37 countries and 450 universities with 280,000 members aged between 18 and 30 years. Ten ambassadors Erasmus will be sent in 30 European capitals to present the themes of the EU Pavilion at Expo 2015. Between December 2014 and September 2015 many events will be held in European universities to encourage Erasmus students from all over Europe to participate in Expo Milan as volunteers of the EU pavilion.

Also, the initiatives planned for students and visitors of the Expo at the Ispra site of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission were presented in this occasion.
