The Joint Research Centre Board of Governors visits the European Union pavilion

On 12 June 2015, we were honoured to welcome the Joint Research Centre Board of Governors to visit our pavilion.

During the visit, our Director Matteo Fornara and our Commissioner General David Wilkinson accompanied the delegation through a guided tour of the pavilion. Starting by presenting the European integration time-line, the visitors can see in the first part and following through the story of Sylvia and Alex, protagonists of the animated film "The Golden Ear" in our 4D cinema.

Sylvia, a scientist for the EU, studies food safety and policies, but barely experiences the real art or nature of cooking. Every step she takes is well calculated and she considers everything as a scientific experiment. While she has to move from the city to a little village and is getting lost in the right direction, she barely notices the lingering eyes of the handsome country man Alex. The visit concluded in our interactive content centre where visitors can receive further information about the European Union’s contribution to feeding the planet in three main educational blocks. One part is dedicated to sustainable farming and rural development, one to SMEs and businesses and one to development cooperation and humanitarian aid.

It was a pleasure to welcome this highly reputed delegation to our pavilion and we hope to receive another visit in the future.
