Animal welfare: a way to preserve diversity and quality in animal productions

On 10 June 2015 we were happy to host at our pavilion at Expo Milano the event "Animal welfare: a way to preserve diversity and quality in animal productions", organised by the Directorate General for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission.

The event aimed at addressing the global challenge of the growing demand for the intensification of livestock production by adopting a "food systems view": this approach considers the triple bottom line of improving the economy, public health and the environment.

The outcome of the conference was twofold: to recognise that agriculture, food, nutrition and health are heavily intertwined and to underline the EU role in coordinating research providers across the world by showing international leadership in research and innovation for economic and societal benefits.
