Sustainable Solutions for Energy, Climate and Food Security

On 26 June we were glad to welcome at our pavilion Miguel Arias Cañete, EU Commissioner for Energy and Climate Action, on the occasion of the event on "Sustainable Solutions for Energy, Climate and Food Security", organised in collaboration with the Directorate Generale for Energy and Transport of the European Commission.

Looking at the entire agri-food chain from farm to fork, this conference brought together senior political leaders including Commissioner Cañete, Ministers from the EU Member States, as well as the business and scientific community to discuss the challenge of sustainably powering the next agricultural revolution. In addition to the high-level opening session kicked off by Commissioner Cañete, the conference also included sessions focused on best practices in farming, food processing, retail and consumption, as well energy for agriculture in the developing world.

During his visit, Commissioner Cañete was accompanied though the European Union pavilion, where the European integration timeline was displayed and he had the chance to enjoy the story of Sylvia and Alex, protagonists of the animated film "The Golden Ear" in our 4D cinema. The visit concluded in our interactive content centre where visitors can receive further information about the European Union’s contribution to feeding the planet.
