How can we benefit from food markets in an increasingly globalised food system? - Interview with Joachim von Braun, EU Scientific Steering Committee

How can we benefit from food markets in an increasingly globalised food system? The answer of one of the members of our Scientific Steering Committee at Expo 2015 Milano, Joachim von Braun (Centre for Development Research – ZEF, University of Bonn).

"Research needs to add knowledge to the way in which we deal with speculation, so that this doens't hurt poor people, and to the way in which we deal with standards, so that consumers know what food and agriculture come from where and what kind of footprints they had on the environment. Trade is basically a good part of globalisation, if it is rule-based, fair and free."
