Musica in Villa 2007 – The Valpolicella celebrates the EU’s 50th anniversary by performing Beethoven’s nine symphoniesMusic
In its 13th year running, Music in Villa will celebrate 50 years of Europe with the performance of the entire corpus of Beethoven’s nine symphonies which will take place in the most prestigious villas in Valpolicella. The event aims to enhance the sense of EU citizenship in the region by celebrating the Valpolicella’s place in Europe and the role Europe plays in the Valpolicella region. 1 July 2007: The European Renaissance – Performed by the Ensemble Archidee 5 July 2007: Beethoven’s Symphonies No. 1 and 3, performed by the Orchestra of Padua and Veneto 12 July 2007: Beethoven’ s Symphonies No.6 and 5, performed by the Orchestra of Padua and Veneto 14 July 2007: Beethoven’ s Symphonies No. 2 and 7, performed by the Orchestra of Padua and Veneto 19 July 2007: Beethoven’s Symphony No.9, performed by James Allen's Girls' School, London Symphony Orchestra, Chorus ‘I musici di Santa Cecilia’, Adriatic Slovenian Chorus, conducted by Leigh O'Hara 29 July 2007: Beethoven’s Symphonies No. 4 and 8 , performed by the Orchestra of Padua and Veneto 2 August 2007: Dimitri Shostakovich ( Festival Ouverture – Symphony No. 5) – Felix Mendelssohn (Violin Concert in E minor) – performed by the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra (UK) |
