To celebrate the EU's 50th birthday, the EU mission in Tanzania is launching a drawing competition in schools. The theme will be Tanzania's exceptionally rich wildlife – well‑known to tourists from Europe - and the format a postage stamp.
The competition will kick off with a trip to the Serengeti National Park for school children living in the surrounding area. The tour will be offered by the Frankfurt Zoological Society –an EU-funded organisation promoting conservation and community-based sustainable tourism – after which the children will be invited to draw the things they remember best. The winning designs, in the form of a stamp, will be presented to the children by the head of the EU mission and the Tanzanian minister for infrastructure development at the "Europe day" celebrations on 9 May. Most memorably, the designs will be made into a national stamp to commemorate more than 30 years of constructive EU-Tanzania cooperation.
