Kindergarten Zwergenland

Kindergarten Zwergenland

Leipzig, Germany

1 , Open

Project description

The kindergarten was newly built in 2010. The architectural style with wood reflects our nature pedagogical concept. The kindergarten welcomes 90 children aged 3-6 years in 5 groups of 18 children. Children can use the 5 group rooms with nice relaxing areas on the second floor, a room for sports and other activities, an atelier and a children kitchen. Outside there is a nice area with trees, different play instruments, sand, places to seat and a big terrasse which invites to play outside. Children can attend this kindergarten within their third year of life. The opening hours are from 7-17, the volunteer works normally from 8/9 till 15 p.m. (6 hours). Since 2017 the kindergarten has the capacity to take a few children with special needs. This kindergarten is located on the same territory with another kindergarten for smaller kids, so they both create a big kids' space with two gardens. It is situated at the border of the river in the family-friendly district "Plagwitz".

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Normally all the volunteers live in shared flats: have their own room but share a kitchen and a bathroom with 3 other volunteers. The monthly allowance includes food & pocket money & money to buy a local transportation monthly ticket and is paid out on the same day of each month. We can arrange an opening of a banking account if you need that. If you stay for 12 months you have 24 holiday days. Instead of a monthly ticket you can buy a bike and sell it by the same price at the end of the EVS. Leipzig is a nice city to ride a bike. If you wish we can as well try to organize a host family.
