During 10 months volunteer will be living in a small,remote village with 60 inhabitants where they will have the opportunity to live in a traditional and sustainable way. The purpose of this project is to revive and document traditional knowledges, crafts and sustainable living. Tasks of volunteer will be changing with the seasons. spring: maintaining garden and food forest, improving facilities with traditional and sustainable techniques, preparing educational programs summer: maintaining gardens, collecting herbs, organizing educational and voluntary programs, traditional woodcraft. autumn: preparation for winter will include preparation of wood, making of jams, ajvar, pickling vegetables and rakija During the voluntary service, the volunteer will have time to initiate personal project, to learn, by doing, about medicinal plants, natural cosmetics, permaculture and sustainable living and to share their own knowledge and skills.


Alojamiento, manutención y transporte

Volunteer will be staying in Boževce village, is eastern part of Kosovo altitude 708m. They will share the house with other volunteers. The house has all necessary, but simple living conditions - electricity, running water, bathroom, heating system... Food will be vegetarian and vegan, mostly made with local produce from the village and surrounding villages. Volunteers will cook for themselves as they agree on a cooking schedule.There is no public transport to the village, but only to the nearby town of Kamenica. However, the volunteer will be able to use a bike, and a car will be on disposal.


Formación durante el proyecto

The volunteer will have an opportunity and will be encouraged to take part in some training courses and educational programmes such as training course for workcamp coordination, permaculture course and seminars with topics of sustainability, peace and nature. Some of the trainings will take place abroad since they will be organized by other SCI branches. The volunteer will also be encouraged to take part in other project of GAIA, which will be educational and practical.


Perfil del voluntario

We are looking for a volunteer with love and interest for nature, traditional knowledges and motivation to fulfill different tasks. The volunteer should be open minded, flexible and not afraid to step out of their comfort zone. Communication is going to be very important since the volunteer will be living with other a community of volunteers, so all problems and possible conflicts will be resolved through communication. No special skills are necessary, but it’s guaranteed that you will leave the project with lots of them.

Información adicional

We can host only volunteers coming from ERASMUS+ program countries. Also, volunteers shoud have a sending organization which are willing to apply with the project to their National Agency, ideally for October deadlilne, since GAIA is situated in a partner country and has no opportunites to submit project applications to ERASMUS+ till next year.
