EVS in Armenia, Building Better Community Through Giving
-Implementation of the European Discussion Club in Alaverdi district
Volunteers'll collaborate with youth workers in communities and conduct meeting with them.Main characters in the different stages of the initiatives in the frame of this action,which promotes the research&the development of the area,the increase for the respect for the inter-cultural and inter-religious diversity by discussions.
-creating social campaign on social media(promote among local community tolerant attitudes and raise awareness on existing stereotypes and the cultural differences in Caucasus)
-Organization The Great Debate during summer camps for poor youth from advantaged groups that takes place for two weekends
-Organize European club’s outside activities as education trips
- organize two study visits of Armenian youth in Georgia in Marneuli district(where Georgians,Azers and Armenians live peacefully together)
accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Receiving organisation has already rented a flat nearby to their offices for the previous EVS volunteers. Each volunteer will have his/her own room.Rented flat has sufficient furniture with cleaning,cooking and washing facilities.
For each volunteer we will pay 85 EUR for food and 55 EUR for pocket money. We will also pay for their local transport ticket it they have to use the transport
According to the law operating after January 2013, EU citizens do not need visa to enter Armenia. They can stay in Armenia for 180 days without visa.Then the volunteers have to apply for resident permit
training during the project
Volunteers will take part in a pre-departure training organized by Bona Fides based on the information provided by the receiving organisation. The volunteers will also be kept in touch with current EVS volunteers of CCMS before their departure.
The 2 volunteers will have a non-official on-arrival/welcoming training for two days upon their arrival to Alaverdi. This training will be organized by CCMS
Volunteers will receive Armenian language classes and CCMS will provide Armenian cultural training courses
Volunteers will participated in on-arrival and mid-term trainings provided by SALTO.
There is no specific competence/qualification required, but participants could be provided in the basic knowledge and skills required in post-conflict and crisis areas, highlight the importance of active involvement in the host society, and promote a reflective and critical approach. Nevertheless the receiving organization is looking for motivated volunteers having good sense of community life and cooperationThey should be eager to take initiatives and be ready to work with young people coming from different social and educational backgrounds.
