Turin is the first Italian City to sign a program agreement with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, to promote internationally the City, with the aim of being protagonist in the global world, being aware that a stronger international vocation could originate as consequences new chances in labour market, investments, growing up and prosperity.The promotional activities are concentrated in the International Affairs Service of the City, in which now are based some of the former activities and project of the Youth Department, after it was taken the strategic decision to implement a transversal attention to youth policies in several department of the City CouncilThe City of Torino promotes the youth participation throughout intercultural activities, volunteering projects, the Youth Information Centre, the web site, magazines and mass-media. It supports active citizenship and the active social involvement of young people by helping the development of networks and coordinating different projects for youth and for adults who work with them: National and local voluntary service, International voluntary service, European Voluntary Service, International Youth Exchanges, training course for youth workers and volunteers.Some of the projects have been relocated in several Departments: art and culture: “Murarte”, young graffiti artists receive support to identify suitable spaces and transform them in artistic expression places; “Pagella non solo rock”, it is a musical competition for young musicians, from 14 to 22 years old; “Lingue in scena”, theatre festival in foreign languages organized from about 20 years.The Youth Department created “To&Tu”, Centres for young people as protagonists: those are youth centers acting as meeting places managed by young people for young people where they can gather, exchange experiences and ideas and give vent to their creative and artistic passion.Youth Department implemented the centre “ARIA”: it is a place where young people from 13 to 25 years old are listened to be helped in problem solving. It is a free service and offers immediate availability and guarantee of anonymity and confidentiality.Furthermore there is the Youth Information Centre. It was opened in 1982, the first one in Italy, inside the Youth Project of the City of Turin. Turin Youth Information Centre has always looked for and spread the information in every field of youth interest: this is an aspect that characterizes the European Youth information Centres. This Centre has been a reference for all the Services opened in Piedmont and it is the seat of the Regional Coordination of the Youth information Centre in Piedmont and in Valle d’Aosta.
