i-PEICC peuple et culture

description of organisation

I.PEICC is affiliated with the national union Peuple et Culture. This NGO was created in Montpellier in 1963 on the initiative of militants of non-formal education. I.PEICC is a non-profit organization (law 1901), approved by several ministries: Youth and Sports, National Education, Agriculture, Health, Vocational training, Work and employment, Culture, Tourism.I.PEICC works in an open way with several publics (young people and adults) in very varied fields. I-PEICC, in his actions, wants to: promote social integration and fight against all forms of inequalities and exclusion. It privileges an active pedagogy and people are in the centre of all our concerns. Europe is still in construction and we try to take part of it. Since the beginnin of the EVS (20 years), we are taking part in all projects in Education and Youth – European Voluntary Service, Youth Exchange, Study Exchange, seminaries, and initiatives from young…)In the association i-PEICC we consider international exchanges as a real pedagogical exercise, which allows candidates to develop themselves and collectives attitudes. We could resume it by: to know yourself you have to know others: european mobility is a way to develop the autonomy and to emancipate young people. It allows them to have a better picture of different cultures, languages and to meet people that they would not meet in France, as well as to develop a critical thinking about their own situation. The mobility creates meetings and inclusion in the society. I.PEICC goes along with a lot of monitors, social actors, youth workers, association’s councilors and volunteers who try to develop civic engagement. Our educational approach is to encourage innovations, self-formation, creativity and initiatives. In our popular education process, art, culture and hobbies are the bases of the citizen. Behind the cultural aspects we want to give tools to fight obscurantism, extremism, intolerance and discrimination. Youth, who creates our modern society, reveals some divisions. These divisions are induced by social and economical disparities. So we pay attention to specific needs that young people can have and then work on it to develop an autonomy process. Travels have educational purposes, in a way to fight cultural clichés and give possibilities of awareness and physical and intellectual mobility. Objectives :• Give everybody the right to training and life-long learning• Increase the capacity of people to develop their skills themselves.• Give access to training methods and process of the popular education –which are linked with reason and feelings - give autonomy and a distance that people need to understand and to have a critical opinion on modern world. Activities presentation :• European exchanges and mobility for young people.• Volunteering• Themes trainings/actions and studies and researches.• Non-formal education and continuing education of adults and young people• Social Research • Local development (urban - rural)• Cultural and intercultural actions• Development of active European citizenship• Meetings and cooperation of benevolent, volunteers, militants, monitors and mentors.Public: i-PEICC help all the young who want go in mobility, but with a special focus on the young people with less opportunities and especially NEETs. i-PEICC is linked with JAMO with:• First its position in Montpellier area -in a special need area outside the center of Montpellier- which implies a straight relationship between inhabitants and the association. • Then, we have partnership with differents network, Youth Local Mission in Lanquedoc Rousillon et locals authotities and we sensibilize these workers to guide interested youth to our services. Most of these young people are out of school, without any degrees and have professional difficulties. So EVS is here to mobilize them around projects which develops confidence and skills. We work with tutors who help youth to develop their projects . And we create a special help for young people at the start of their EVS to make their integration easier to the project.
