description de l'organisation

Ambios Ltd not-for-profit provides nature conservation training, opportunities for learning, UK and EU. We have offered varying duration volunteering opportunities since we began in 2001 linked to both non-formal and formal learning outcomes. The Vision for our organisation is 'to inspire people to engage with nature through practical work, science and technology' and the Mission is to provide inspirational education, practical action, science and technology training and volunteering opportunities in nature conservation in the UK and in Europe. We want to help people achieve their goals for nature, science, education and employment. Our aims are: for Nature Conservation Training, to offer a range of volunteering and training opportunities and to demonstrate nature conservation in action; for Opportunity for Learning, to maximise opportunities for everyone to learn about the natural world and (if they wish) gain relevant qualifications and employment; for UK & EU, to nurture partnerships and networks to support our aims. Our range of projects target different groups including young adults, adults with learning difficulties and those from under-represented backgrounds in the nature conservation sector (women returning to work, carers, career changers, those with few qualifications). Our training focuses on skills gaps identified by the world of work. We are represented on the UK national Industry Working Group of Environmental Conservation at LANTRA Sector Skills Council. We regularly Host visiting Erasmus+ trainees (from University of Evora, Portugal) and co-financed volunteers from UK, France and Belgium as well as Leonardo and Erasmus+ trainees from Hungary (Barn Owl Foundation). We run nature conservation training and volunteering experiences which focus on practical activities (e.g. hedge-laying), species and habitat identification, mapping biodiversity and interpreting the results these activities generate to a wider audience using established and emerging technology. We also run specific employability workshops which provide quality information on how to get a job in the nature conservation sector. Via City and Guilds and LANTRA Awards we deliver vocational qualifications in Environmental Conservation, Information Technology and vocational education quality assurance processes (TAQA) which reflect and support these activities. We manage a small farm for nature, wildlife and learning. At the farm we work alongside Robert Owen Communities (ROC) who support adults with learning difficulties. We also Host domestic and international trainees and volunteers (many of whom are young people) who come to participate in cultural activities, learn the skills and (in some cases) work towards the qualifications needed to gain employment in the nature conservation sector. The people ROC support have mild to moderate learning disabilities from Downs Syndrome to Autism. Our trainees and volunteers are able-bodied and benefit from regular co-adventurer interactions with the people ROC support as a part of their placements with us. This breaks down barriers and promotes community cohesion. Consistent positive feedback from our volunteers and trainees clearly shows that their experiences of periodically working alongside the people ROC support as part of their time with us is a source of inspiration and personal development.
