The main objective of the Ecole de Cirque de Bruxelles is to allow each and everyone to progress, to blossom and to strengthen their autonomy thanks to circus arts… whether they are young or old, amateur or professional, physically/mentally challenged or not, fortunate or underprivileged. The school is a microcosm of modern urban society.The main fields of activity of the school are the following:CIRCUS ARTS ACADEMY-Weekly classes (for children, teenagers and adults): « toddlers & parents », psychomotricity, « circomotricity », multidisciplinary and advanced classes. (each week 530 participants)-Holiday workshops: multidisciplinary or « specialised » workshops (for example, « circo-languages » or « handicirque »)PROFESSIONAL TRAININGS-The « Formation Pédagogique » (FP):european training for « circus arts trainers » (one year full-time - 1300 hours). It offers to gain expertise in methodology specific to circus arts teaching and educational methods, as well as an in-depth knowledge of various circus techniques. In complement of this training it's possible to follow a specialisation " HandiCirque training" for working circus art with disabilities persons. (60 hours). ( maximum 14 european students)- The university certificate " Circus Arts managment" in partnership with UCL in Brussels.(85 hours contact teaching plus 27 hours of distance learning, which represent "10 ECTS"- The « Formation d'Animateurs en Cirq' de Quartier » (FACQ): training for « circus arts activity leaders » specialised in the social field (150 hours). " Circus Trans Formation " - European project - The " Formation assistant teacher" (7 days) THE SOCIAL PROJECTS Handicirque - Weekly classes: specialised circus lessons for mentally and/or physically challenged students, aiming at enabling the participants to explore their physical, creative and relational abilities. (120 disabilities persons per weak)- Integration: inclusion of a mentally and/or physically challenged student within a regular class of the academy or a workshop, with the help of a specialised assistant.- « Mêle tes potes » workshop: based on the interaction of some adults and mentally challenged people.- The « Cirq’ de Quartier » (partnerships with the cities of Bruxelles and Molenbeek).Many activities are offered to children and youngsters coming from underprivileged neighbourhoods, such as introduction lessons to circus techniques, weekly classes for youth clubs and workshops.THE PERFORMING GROUPSDedicated students have the possibility to create their own act and/or show. Participants are in charge of the props and costumes for their performance, as well as of the stage management.INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES ( Ecole de Cirque de Bruxelles is an active member of the CARAVAN network, which gathers circus schools sharing the same vision in terms of educational practice. These schools are located in 14 different European cities: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Belfast, Berlin, Brussels, Bucarest, Galway, Luxembourg,Paris (Bagneux), Prague, Pointe - à - Pitre, Slovenia, Stockholm, Tampere, To implement all those projects, our organisation is divided into different sectors. 4 sectors among them have been specifically selected in order to be able to host qualitatively a volunteer:- Administration- Communication- Logistics- PedagogySee the descriptions under the point E.3.2 « proposed activities »It is clear that we offer the possibility to the volunteer to accomplish various tasks among those 4 sectors where the projects are carried out. He/she won’t have necessary to be involved only in 1 sector.
