Xena is a non-profit cultural association for the social promotion, based in Padova (Padua, North- Eastern Italy), training board accredited by the Veneto Region in the guidance sphere and active member of the information network Euroguidance . Set up in the autumn of 1994. Its name derives from ancient Greek and means foreign things.
It works in the field of intercultural education, non-formal education, vocational training, promotion of active citizenship, promoting projects both at local and international level.
Its main objective is to increase and improve the level of contact and interaction amongst different cultures.
It promotes projects mainly within the frame of European Programmes – such as Erasmus+ and "Youth in Action" (i.e. “Youth for Europe”, “European Voluntary Service”), Lifelong Learning (i.e. “Leonardo da Vinci”, "Grundtvig") and others - with the following principal aims: promoting intercultural learning dynamics; preventing and combating racism and prejudices; to offer young people the opportunity to join mobility programmes in the vocational and social-cultural sphere, to promote comparisons between different cultures and systems; to promote opportunities for meetings amongst different cultures and to encourage greater knowledge of foreign; to promote the active participation of the youth in society.
Xena work directelly in contact with many youngsters with different background and socio economical situation, both in the transnational project that at local level , with cultural activites, courses, workshop and in the 2 youth center that is running with another organization for Padua's Municipality.
Xena works in co-operation with other bodies (European institutions, associations, municipalities, enterprises, schools, trade unions, informal groups, etc.) in Italy and abroad.
It has hundreds of members every years and work in cooperation with several partners all over Europe and in the World.
