Secondary School in Dabrowa Białostocka was built in 1962. The school was named after General Nikodem Sulik in 2002.About 60 people work at our school. The teaching staff support and cooperate with each other. They are open-minded, tolerantand friendly people. Our school consists the secondary school, vocational school and secondary school for adults. There are 21 classrooms, 2 comuter rooms ( 32 computers ), the library and the computer center in the reading room ( 4 computers + access to the Internet )l. There is also the sports hall, the shooting range ( air weapon ), 2 billiard rooms, and the gym.The school has an access to the stadium. The school has around 350 students and the volunteer will mainly work with pupils in age 15 - 18 years old. There is a boarding house where lives about 50 pupils. Our school has several active pupil’s organizations: scout team, theatre group,volunteers’ organization, school newspaper. Our pupils can participate in projects, e.g. ”Archimedes”( extra classes for pupilswho are interested in science ( maths, physics, biology, chemistry ); ”The Academy of Crucial Competences”( extra classes forpupils who are interested in computer science and enterprise; the aim of the project is giving equal educational opportunitiesyoung people from rural areas ); ”Białystok - good place for studying” ( extra classes; the goal of the project is preparing thirdyear pupils to the Matura exam and to study at university); ”Grandma’s delicacy of two cultures”( Young people from Poland andLithuania prepared traditional Polish and Lithuanian dishes together, and then published a recipe’s book. The aim was creatingmutual relationships between Polish and Lithuanian youngsters, cultural cooperation). Our students can develop their sportsactivities in handball, football, volleyball, boxing, taekwon-do,and shooting sections. There are customs-oriented and uniformed- oriented classes in our school. We cooperate with the Customs Office in Białystok, the Border Guards in Nowy Dwór and thePolice Station in Da˛browa Białostocka. The school cooperates with foreign schools: Gymnasium No 3 in Mołodeczno ( Belarus) and Gymnasium in Kalwaria ( Lithuania ).
