descrizione dell'organizzazione

Association for the promotion of IT, culture and coexistence has as its mission community empowerment through strengthening the capacity of civil society organisations, promoting information technology and democratic citizenship and promotion of inter-sectoral cooperation and the employment of disadvantaged citizens. Our vision is to become the leading regional organisation in the area of non-formal education and democratic community development.
Our development objectives and priorities:
Promotion of volunteering;
We believe volunteering is a key value contributing to empowerment of citizens and community development. Our priorities include the coordination of short and long term volunteering projects on a local, regional and international level. Our Volunteer Centre Petrinja initiated development of a local volunteering policy in partnership with the local government, community services organisations and institutions delivering social services. Volunteers can choose many different volunteer programs and actions, suitable to their need for skill development. We organise international volunteer camps every year to promote multiculturalism, anti-discrimination, youth mobility and the value of volunteer work. On an international level, we have numerous valuable partnerships and belong to an EVS network, implement EVS projects, youth exchanges and other Erasmus+ actions, Europe for Citizens projects and many other funding programmes. In 2014 we initiated a web platform (www.volonteri.hr) for volunteer matching, assisting the connection between available and motivated candidates for volunteering with opportunities suitable to their interests and competency needs so that they may gain specific experience and be more competitive in the job market.
Civil society organisation capacity development;
Association IKS is a member of one of only 12 organisations in Croatia providing services and training for the development of CSO’s in Croatia and actively delivers information, advice and training to other community organisations in four Central Croatian Counties and the City of Zagreb, to strengthen the capacity of CSO’s. Our strengths in utilising and promoting technology allows us to create and provide state-of-the art multi-media solutions for communication and development. This program defines a target group of non-profit, non-government community service organisations and civil initiatives and aims to strengthen and develop the community services industry.

Empowerment of socially vulnerable community members;
Association IKS implements many European Union funded projects, including funding through the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR), Cross-border Croatia/Bosnia & Herzegovina programme, Erasmus+ programme, Operational Programme Human Resource Development and other EU partner funded projects. Our activities are focused on empowering at risk community members and include a Job Seekers Club, Administrative support and free legal aid, non-formal education and training on various topics including basic computer skills, project writing, language courses, human rights, multimedia, puppet studio theatre and more. Our projects aim to make unemployed persons more competitive in the job market and assist them in finding employment, to empower citizens to become active in solving community problems and taking initiative in promoting active citizenship, empower women, youth and other citizens who are at risk of social exclusion. Through our projects we build cross-sector partnerships, working with public institutions and offices and motivating private sector support.
In our aim to empower citizens and develop democracy, we motivate and promote employment through various sources of funding in the non profit community sector and promote and educate on the topic of Social Entrepreneurship.

Our staff are competent in IT, Education and Training, Human Resources, Community Services, Youth Services, Training and Business sector. Other team members are employed per project requirements depending on the number of projects running. We have over 250 volunteers who regularly volunteer in local programmes and actions and participate in project activities.
Association IKS have premises in the centre of the City of Petrinja open Monday to Friday from 08:00-16:00 hours, which include; facilities for accommodation, a fully equipped bathroom and kitchen, a multimedia training room, offices, equipment studio, a large yard suitable for outdoor activities, concerts, fitness classes or cinema. The premises are open daily for community members to ‘surf’ or look for jobs. Citizens regularly attend the premises job club and to gain assistance at our SOS help desk for civil society organisations. We have several EVS volunteers working on different projects in the community with the elderly population and also with children and youth.
