The Consorzio Sociale Il Filo da Tessere is an organization of non-profit cooperative societies, established on 29 December 2000. The mission can be summarized as follows:

“We are a consortium of social cooperatives. We promote the development of the community as well as the societies that work on it, cooperating responsibly for the growth of the common good”. There are eleven cooperative societies that joined the Consorzio, operating in Piemonte, in the district of Biella and surrounding areas. Cooperative societies manage social and educational services (in the context of disability, childhood and adolescence, mental illness, drug addiction, old age, fair trade and hospitality) and job placement for disadvantaged people. As non-profit cooperatives, these kind of societies promote social inclusion programs with full respect for the dignity of people,of their history and work.
The activities of the Consorzio can be divided into five areas:
1 ) Administrative Services provided by Filo da Tessere to member cooperatives such as accounting services, personnel management and consultancy in the field of safety and health in the workplace.
2) Service Quality and Certification: Filo da Tessere and some cooperative members, certified UNI EN ISO 9001:2015, using the quality management system as a tool for organization and continuous listening to its users and customers.
3 ) Managing the national civil service: Filo da Tessere is enabled to the presentation and management of projects of national civil service and has established a network of local organizations host (social cooperatives, nursing homes, government agencies, ecc.)
Filo da Tessere specifically:
• keeps and updates a specific database of youngsters interested in the civil service;
• shall ensure the implementation of training programs for volunteers and managers of host organizations;
• ensures the assignment of volunteers and monitors their way inside the host organization.
3) Managing EVS project as Coordinating Organization for three member cooperatives: Filo da Tessere coordinates the project in cooperation with all sending and receiving organisations; provides support to the volunteers; ensures that each volunteer is in possession of the European Health Insurance Card and is covered by the obligatory EVS Insurance plan; arranges, with the sending and receiving organisations, a visa for the volunteers who needs it; provides support for the learning/Youthpass process.
4) Development social enterprise Area: Filo da Tessere promotes the development of new projects, ideas, active partnerships and collaborations with stakeholders of the territory and seeks to enhance the economic and social contribution that cooperation gives to the territory.
The main areas in which Filo da Tessere is committed through the work of social cooperatives are associated with:
- Services to persons and territory. The actions promoted by our cooperatives are made in a perspective of community, which means not operate alone but continually seek the cooperation and involvement of the realities on the territory.
Specifically, the services that we manage as an integrated system of cooperatives aim to welfare of children, youth, families, people with disabilities, the elderly, drug addicts, the homeless, refugees and migrants.
- Job placement. The ability to carry out a job is the way to social inclusion and integration of people. The system of social cooperation of labor insertion, was developed to give an answer to those whose disability or social disadvantage prevents from entering the world of work.
- Labor market policies. Are promoted initiatives such as vocational guidance, employment workshops for people with disabilities, pathways employment support for people with different types of social disadvantage.
The beneficiaries of the interventions made by the cooperatives associated with Filo da Tessere are:
- Disabled
- Elderly
- Children
- Young people
- Addicts
- Refugees and migrants
- People with psychiatric problems
- Adults at risk of marginalization
