description of organisation

Betania - Activation Geriatric Centre provides a 24-hour care to old and immobile persons who are dependent on physical help of other persons or found themselves in unsuitable social situation. Usually their immobility originates from health problems and high age. The centre, with 22 beds, provides health and social care to its clients all year long. Some clients are in a temporary nursing care and some are staying in the long term pensioner’s home. The clients are provided with a comprehensive, continuous medical and social care that is orientated on Christian values. Community rehabilitation, health pedagogic, spiritual-pastoral care and social prevention are part of the program as well as the guidance during the everyday activities. The social service is provided by experienced nurses and stuff at a high professional level. They tactfully help those clients, who, due to their high age or worsen health condition, have found themselves in powerless and difficult situation. One of the main missions of the centre is to bring a pleasant family type environment where the clients can spend their rest of life with a dignity. It puts stress on acceptance, love, sensitive care, understanding and security. An active therapy, art-therapy, bibliotherapy, music therapy, psychomotor therapy and other incentive programs are used as a support of the self-reliance and independence of the clients.
