description of organisation

CUBIC is a non profit organisation established in 2005 to support young people with fewer opportunities to find their passion, develop self awareness and expand their horizons; this is achieved through delivering innovative international projects that are culturally immersive, educational and unique. In its activities CUBIC aims at encouraging intercultural exchange and learning processes. CUBIC tries to improve especially the opportunities of young people of getting involved in social and labour life, giving special attention to the inclusion of disadvantaged youth.
CUBIC acts as a resource for young people by providing assistance and organising programmes of physical, educational and other activities as a means of helping them advancing in life and developing their skills, capacities and capabilities, and enabling them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals.

Our staff has significant expertise in European youth work, inclusion work and the field of non formal learning. Our EVS proposition therefore supports particular themes of inclusion and learning.
Our plan is to support the needs of the local community and to run regular volunteer hosting programmes aimed mainly at young people from backgrounds of fewer opportunities – an area where we have an excellent track record of successful engagement.
We intend to offer a diverse range of activities based around environmental work, culture and intergenerational exchange.
We also intend to be an active sending organisation to offer unique EVS experiences to young people especially from disadvantaged backgrounds . Our interest within this Expression of Interest is delivering EVS experiences especially with known partners in the Rückenwind network.
Our aims for the Rückenwind activities are:
• To inspire young people to expand their horizons and aspirations and deal successfully with
• To help young people develop self-awarness, self-esteem and copying capacity
• To encourage young people to discover and develop their competences
• To recognise and value young people’s positive contributions to society
• To encourage participation in social enterprise and community action projects (local, national and international)
• To increase young people’s understanding of global issues
• To promote intercultural understanding.

Participants with fewer opportunities

  • This organisation has additional mentoring or other support suitable for young people with social obstacles, educational difficulties, cultural differences or similar.
  • Other experience, infrastructure and resources:

Our team has significant experience and expertise in working with disadvantaged youth and in different / difficult intercultural environments. We understand the physical, emotional and other welfare needs of young people away from home. CUBIC and the partners in the Rückenwind network employ social workers in their projects to guarantee highest standards of support, guidance and welfare. The Rückenwind Strategy follows the international standards of social work and the concepts of life-world orientated social work and outdoor education and complies with the concept of the capability approach developped by Sen and Nussbaum. We follow the idea of equity vs equality which means that from our understanding we have to provide the necessary meassures to ensure that everyone can be sucessful and counts as a valuable part of society.
