description of organisation

We are an organization that seeks to protect, analyze and monitor the environment against misuse or degradation from human forces. Agros enviromental group is a non-profit, non-governmental, environmental organization, based in Limassol. The organization was established in 1976 and since then has campaigned on a number of local, national and international environmental issues. Our goal is to raise awareness on the importance of preserving the natural environment and to campaign for solutions to environmental and social problems by promoting sustainable policies.

The members of the organisation are young people of different social status which share the same interest and passion towards protecting the global ecology and work together for raising the awareness of people about ecological issues. Some of our members are young people of the community and some others are young experts in different relevant fields such as ecology, biology, media, social activities, medicine, sport and they support youngsters and their social integration and personal development and realisation.

Our mission is to initiate, promote and implement sustainable activities aiming to develop a responsible and active society in terms of environmental, educational, social and cultural issues.

Activities and projects carried out by our organisation aim to create awareness about environmental protection and potential problems arising otherwise but also to inform and sensitize the community in regards to the importance of sustaining our ecosystem in a state that can provide for the future communities.

Our main aims include informing and raising awareness of the European Union and its educational programs; promoting self-fulfillment and personal development of young people through educational programs of the European Union and developing non-formal learning opportunities, intercultural dialogue, international cooperation and create spaces for an active civil society.

As well, we are focusing on:
-improving quality of life of d youth through professional and volunteer work with promotion healthy ways of life;
-promoting informal education, voluntarism, ecology, preventing of unwanted forms of behaviors (delinquency, drug addiction…) developing of healthy ways of living among youth;
-promoting multiculturalism and peace;
-promoting active citizenship, solidarity, tolerance and understanding between cultures.

Or group has a wide experience in the youth field and owns permanent and highly qualified facilities for training courses, meetings, apprenticeships, workshops, youth exchanges or initiatives, etc. with different skills: its facilities, together with the staff’s skills, allow to always meet the stated goals.

This year we celebrate the 40 years of our group and the 20 years of EVS. So we want to celebrate both anniversaries and start working with EVS. The members of our group are very motivated and they really want to be involved in EVS projects that are meaningful and frutiful with beneficial results for all the key actors (receiving organisation, sending organisation, volunteers) but also the extended stakeholders (local volunteers and local youth, local community, local partners, local decision makers).
