Hnizdo - spolek pro komunitni vzdelavani
description of organisation
The main goal of the association Hnízdo (the Nest) is to create a positive environment for education for all generations.
By community education we understand the process of common learning and growth, where the educators are not only the teachers and the educated are not only the children. The content, character and the methods of education are influenced by children, their parents and other members of the community.
The association was started with the intention to establish a community school in Tišnov. This was achieved in 2015, the school now has been working for the third year under the name ZaHRAda. ZaHRAda is a small school with 25-30 children from 6 to 12 years (they are all together for the moment), 4 pedagogical employees and 4-5 pedagogical helpers. ZaHRAda is children-, parents- and teachers-friendly, accenting learning through natural situations and supporting learning autonomy of the children. Children spend a lot of time outdoors and have a lot of space for free play, creativity and their own projects. The school is inspired by ideas of democratic schools. There is a school parliament – it means advisory circle, which decides the important issues, whose members are all the children, employees and parents.
The school and its premises are available also in the afternoon times or according to the needs. We offer groups or courses for arts, sports, music, religion etc. The school is the focal/local spot of the community events.
Apart from operating the school we attend many cultural (Ex: National festival of documentary films Jeden svět – the part in Tišnov), social (Ex: Panel discussion on education) and sport (Ex: Local scooter race) occasions, we organize discussions, lectures, workshops, we take part in local seasonal festivals etc. These mostly local activities are open to the whole commuity and are based on voluntary work of parents, friends, pedagogues, public. Voluntary activities are realized during school time and in the afternoon too and are very appreciated.
We support children and whole community to recognise and respect different opions, ways, cultures, language. That is the reason we would like to welcome some foreign volunteer with all his/her culture, language, background etc.
We can gladly provide more specific information in English to those who are interested.
