description of organisation

Tipu Nature School is a non-profit organization founded in august 2007 with the aim of connecting people with nature and promoting environmental awareness. Tipu Nature School is situated on the base of an old schoolhouse in Tipu village in Soomaa National Park, which is known for its vast bog complexes, rivers and flooded meadows. The Nature School offers lots of smaller attractions like barefoot-trail, permaculture garden, water playground and the interaction with our animals (goats, chicken, rabbits and bees). We organizae educational programs for school and kindergarden kids, nature and work camps, lectures and trainings for differnt target groups. With the help of volunteers we build up the grounds of the Nature School, keep our hiking trail in order and restore a wooded meadow within the National Park.

Proposed activities:
The works in the Nature School are very diverse and depend on the interest of the volunteers. We support personel projects within the Nature School during the voluntary service. Our last german volunteers with support from the organization for example have been planning and building a barefoot-trail, initiated a dugout building workshop and brought beekeeping into the Nature School.

Volunteers work on the grounds of the nature school, do garden and building/restauration works, take care of our animals (goats, chicken, rabbits), keep the hiking trail in order and plan new attractions. They also help with the preparation of seminars, hikes and nature education programs for school classes, translate material and update our homepage.

This organisation is accredited to run projects under Erasmus+ Volunteering and the European Solidarity Corps.
