description of organisation

Crossing Borders (CB) is a non-profit, civil society organization. Crossing Borders has been promoting unity in diversity, intercultural meeting and international exchange toward realizing our common humanity and mutual dependency in a truly global community for 20 years. Crossing Borders educates and empowers young people to become active global citizens. Across cultures and professions, we provide platforms for young people to cross-fertilize ideas and form global associations, networks, and communities worldwide. In a learning environment where all participants are encouraged to grow and learn from one another, we enable youth to share their best ideas, best products, and best practices.

Crossing Borders started as a project in 1999 in Denmark in support of meaningful dialogue between the conflict parties in the Middle East. In response to increased activities and demands for the CB concept and services, in 2004 it was transformed into a dynamic organization with activities in Denmark and abroad.

The vision of Crossing Borders is a world in peace with itself in which diversity is celebrated. The mission is to create dialogue space towards such a world and to build the capacity of youth, media workers and educators to realize the above mission. The overall goal is to enable people with different backgrounds to learn to live together on equal terms. Crossing Borders resonates with the concept of the free movement of ideas and people across the globe in equality. The organization wants to facilitate the crossing of borders in order to enable people to share their best ideas and best practices.

CB activities comprise various programs: - Global school services for high and primary schools in Denmark - Global Studies at Nordfyn Hojskole - International Projects - Volunteering program - Teacher conferences - Publications of educational materials, youth magazine, and newsletters

CB is collaborating with partners that work toward the same goals. These partners comprise: - Municipalities - Highschools - International project partners Public funding partners - International funding partners.
