Get involved in the Youth Olympic Games
YOG 2016/Lillehammer2016 in Norway will kick off on 12.-22.February. YOG 2016 is an elite sports event created by and for young people. Along with 1,100 athletes across 70 nations and nearly 3,000 volunteers, young people get together to arrange the most complex sports event in Norway since they lit the Olympic Flame at the Winter Olympics in 1994.
YOG is the youth's own Olympics, and this will be the fourth Youth Olympics since it first took place in Singapore in the summer of 2010. YOG’s vision is to inspire young people worldwide to participate in sports, but also to be an arena for cultural and educational exchange. For Lillehammer2016, this will entail 70 sports exercises within 15 winter disciplines, the cultural youth festival «Sjoggfest" - which organizes several free cultural events around the host cities, in addition to the extensive learning program Learn & Share," which contributes to YOG being an arena where you can acquire knowledge both on and off the sports arena.
The games will take place at 13 different sports arenas in the cities of Lillehammer, Hamar, Gjøvik and Oslo. The youth festival "Sjoggfest" will take place at various locations around the host municipalities.
