Activity descriptionAEGEE was founded in 1985 in Paris and has a network of 13 000 members in 165 cities in 40 countries, striving for a democratic, diverse and borderless Europe. The volunteering activity will take place in the head office of the organisation, working side-by-side with the board and the small secretariat. The head office of AEGEE is an international and youthful work space offering flexible and diverse learning opportunities. The volunteer will work mainly on communications (social media management, internal and external communication, website management) and event management (logistics, content management), but based on personal interest and experience of the volunteer, other tasks can be taken (e.g. advocacy, project assistance, work on the thematic priorities of AEGEE). The volunteer would have a 6-hour work day which would consist of previously mentioned tasks and time for learning. Additionally, the volunteer can take part in activities of AEGEE-Brussels.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangementsThe volunteer will be accommodated in a single room in a shared apartment with other young people (students, young professionals, interns). The volunteer will receive an allowance to cover their food (300€ per month), local transport costs (35€ per month) and pocket money. ------- In case of finding a suitable candidate, the call for a volunteer can be closed before the deadline on the 16th of August.
Training during the activityBefore arrival, the volunteer will participate in a training organised by Futuro Digitale, the supporting organisation. Upon arrival, AEGEE-Europe team will give the volunteer full overview regarding the tasks and opportunities volunteering with AEGEE brings. There will be two training events conducted by the Belgian French-speaking National Agency during the duration of the volunteering. Additionally, the volunteer can take part of AEGEE's European Training Course on the topic of leadership and any online training events provided by AEGEE regularly during COVID times.
Participant profileThe ideal profile of the volunteer is the following: • interested in living abroad and experiencing a highly international context; • interested in working with and for young people; • willing to adapt to different situations; • willing to develop their own initiatives and projects; • interested in online communication, marketing and events management for youth as a target group • interested in at least one of the focus areas of AEGEE: climate emergency, mental health, political activism, social equity • has a good level of English (the main language of the activity)
