ESC in France in the technical college Joseph Roussel in Le Mans
Lycée Joseph Roussel
Le Mans, France
Project descriptionAbout 440 pupils study at the technical college Lycée Professionnel Joseph Roussel. Located in the city center of Le Mans, we provide courses specialized in Social Care, Healthcare as well as Fast Food and Institutional Catering. Our technical college has always been developing international partnerships and organizing language and cultural exchanges in Spain and the United Kingdom as well as internships in Spain and Greece to develop students’ cultural openness. Our project is to develop students’ European openness too and help them to open up more and more to the world and others. It obviously matters with discovery and cultural openness. We also would like to raise awareness of European citizenship and openness by recruiting a European Solidarity Corps volunteer. This means more diversity, more exchanges of opinions, getting to know each other and accepting cultural differences. It will arouse students’ curiosity and might encourage them to step out of their comfort zone
Accommodation, food and transport arrangementsYour role is to promote Europe and your country among students (through socio-educational activities, language workshops and refresher courses, a Club Europe) and help the college in forging links with other schools and thus, create new working or mobility partnerships. You will manage the Europe corner, in collaboration with the librarian, and work on communication actions (website of the college, blog, Facebook page, the press). You will be invited to develop Europe-related games and recreational activities with another volunteer over lunchtime.
Training during the projectAccommodation: you will share a house in the city center of Le Mans with two other persons (the landlady and another European volunteer). You will have your own bedroom. Fully equipped and furnished: towels, blanket, pillow, bed linen, etc. WIFI is provided. Pocket money: 6€ per day Food money: 210€ per month. On working days, you can lunch for free in the school canteen. Local transport: you will get a SETRAM card which give access to the bus and tramway network in the city of Le Mans.
Volunteer profileThe volunteer (man or woman, there are no preferences) should be between 18-30 years old. We have no specific profile in mind and all applications will be considered with the same attention. A Skype interview will be organized. We are just waiting for someone who is interested in working with teenagers and on European issues. To apply: Send us your CV and the application form in English or French only at the address: email@example.com. You can also add some photos.
