Activity description

Promoting the personal, educational, creative and social developments of young people, helping them reach their full potential. Helping to hold a safe and supportive environment where young people learn to: • treat themselves and others with kindness and respect • discover exciting new ideas and activities they are unlikely to experience anywhere else • laugh, learn, experiment, make mistakes and thrive • grow into motivated, positive, resilient and caring citizens Key responsibilities and tasks: • Welcoming young people into the building, ensuring everything is running smoothly and supporting young people engaging with the activities • Delivering a drop-in session for example organising games, positive activities and conversations, taking accountability for security and safe working within the youth sessions • Supporting the delivery of creative and partnership projects • Having conversations with young people, identifying issues affecting them and how their needs can be met.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

UNFORTUNATELY WE CANNOT GUARANTEE ENOUGH TIME FOR VISA APPLICATIONS FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY. Accommodation will be probably be in a host family or else a shared apartment. Bedding will be provided. You will receive a monthly pocket money allowance and either top-up for food or meals provided. You will receive a bus pass to help you get around the town if necessary. You may be required to volunteer on Bank Holidays, depending on your responsibilities. You should advise us of any access / dietary requirements or medical conditions / allergies which may affect your volunteering or living conditions.

Training during the activity

You will attend On-Arrival Training (2 nights) and Mid-Term Training (1 night). You will receive Basic Safeguarding Training. You will have access to the Online Linguistic Support tool. You may have other training opportunities where relevant to your role. We particularly encourage applicants with creative or marketing skills and sports coaching experience to apply for this opportunity. Unfortunately, we cannot fund any additional training you may want to do. According to official ESC guidance, you are not permitted to take up employment or full-time studies during your volunteering placement.

Participant profile

You are friendly, cheerful, positive and self-driven, able to work independently and as part of a team • Desirable education, qualifications or experience: Experience of working with children and/or young people in a community environment Experience of organising small-scale events or coordinating projects Knowledge / experience of working in the charity sector • Knowledge, skills and abilities: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to quickly establish positive relationships with young people and motivate them to participate in activities and events Good organisation / admin
