Activity description

The youth center Oberndorf is an open meeting point fort he local youth scene between 12 and 18 years. With a mix of activities, the youth center tries to support participation within the community of Oberndorf to improve integrations status and to give shelter and backup when necessary. Further it wants to support useful leisure time activities such as sport activities, excursions, creative activities, concerts, workshops and discussions, intercultural learning, homework activities, job coaching, movie times etc. We work mainly on a very local basis, but networking with other youth centers of the region and joined competitions (like soccer or beach volleyball tournaments) are also important program points.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

A local standard accommodation (host family/ students dorm or apartment) is provided. The volunteer receives food money monthly from the host organization. Local transport is provided by the host organization.

Training during the activity

The volunteer will have and on-arrival training as well as a mid-term training. All the costs are covered.

Participant profile

We are willing to host volunteers from various disadvantaged backgrounds, if we know in advance to be able to support him/her. The volunteer should be able to work independently and he/she should be motivated to show his/her own initiative. The volunteer has to be motivated to work with youth. We will ask the volunteer to tell his/her expectations and goals at the beginning of the volunteering period so that the team can help and support him/her.
