YMCA Volunteer Youth Worker

The YMCA Youth Work department offers various youth-led projects for people aged 5-25 years old in and around Bournemouth, focusing on equality, diversity and community inclusion, including open access, children's, and disability youth work, and holiday activities, citizenship, outreach and peer mentoring. The main activities will include: ● Supporting staff and volunteers in various youth centre settings to deliver youth projects ● Supporting staff to plan youth work and sports activities ● Building professional relationships with young people within sessions, promoting well-being and providing guidance ● Helping young people engage in activities such as cooking, arts and crafts, and physical games ● Attending conferences, meetings or training about youth work and the YMCA ● Helping deliver youth projects in the community ● Lead on administration tasks ● You will need to pay for any Covid testing ● We will pay for your visa application and your travel costs (within budget)

Dzīvošana, ēdināšana un transports

Accommodation will likely be in a shared house. We try to keep volunteers together where possible. You will receive your monthly pocket money and food top-up (unless in a host family) paid into your online bank account. The role is up to 30 hours per week with two consecutive days off and you will receive your annual leave of 2 days per month. You will often be required to volunteer during unsociable hours or weekends. Your local bus fares will be funded to assist your navigation around the town. You will also be assigned a Mentor to support your health and wellbeing. Your bedding is provided.

Mācības pasākuma laikā

You'll attend an Induction, On-Arrival Training and Mid-Term Training. You'll receive Basic Safeguarding Training. You'll have access to the Online Linguistic Support. You will have other training opportunities where relevant to the role. We encourage male applicants and those with fewer opportunities to apply for this role. Unfortunately we cannot fund any professional training. According to ESC and Tier 5 visa rules, you are not permitted to take up employment or full-time studies during your volunteering. Dalībnieka profils

We are happy to host confident volunteers of any sex who are aged between 18-30. Although we are open to individuals who have some special needs, you would need to be able to work independently and without supervision whilst carrying out your tasks. You will be interested in youth work and enjoy football or other sports. You will have a desire to reach young people of all backgrounds in the local community, including boys with challenging behaviour. We recommend that serious candidates upload a detailed motivation statement explaining why you're interested in the opportunity and an English CV.
