Project descriptionThe main aim of the project is to offer the opportunity of learning with OBESSU for an enthusiastic individual who is interested to work and develop in areas such as communication and advocacy for fostering school students’ voice in Europe. With their year long engagement with OBESSU, the volunteer will: - Gain valuable insights regarding school student activism and the related policy and advocacy processes in Europe; - Have the opportunity to develop their competencies and skills in the fields of advocacy and communication; - Have the opportunity to create an impact on society, engaging with activities and processes of OBESSU and its partner organisations; - Have the opportunity to shape their own learning path and to shape the strategic approach of the organisation together with the leadership in a mutual exchange of ideas; - Have the opportunity to interact with the local community in Brussels; - Learn about new cultures and share their own with the locals and other volunteers
Accommodation, food and transport arrangementsThe participant will receive a financial subsidy of a maximum amount of 945 EUR per month for the accommodation, local travel costs, food and pocket money. The host organisation (OBESSU) will support the volunteer in finding accommodation in Brussels. Travel costs to and from Brussels will be covered by OBESSU up to the amount of 275 EUR. Health insurance will be covered as part of the project for the entire duration of the volunteering period. During the volunteering period, the volunteer will also have access to learning a new language.
Training during the projectDuring the volunteering period, the volunteer will receive: - on arraival training - specific peer training within the organisation staff (based on their competence development mapping) - trainings provided by partner organisations (e.g. MundoJ Academy, European Youth Forum etc) - a training on school student activism and participation in Europe - communication and outreach to grassroots trainings (organised in house and by external partners) - external trainings that the volunteer wants to take part in - competence and skills mapping trainig
Volunteer profile- Young person between the ages of 18 - 30; - Interested in living in and experiencing a highly international context; - Interested in working with and for young people and more precisely school students; - Motivated and creative individual interested in school student organizing and youth participation; - An individual willing to develop sector-specific skills and competences (with specific emphasis on advocacy and communications); - Willing to develop their language skills; - Willing to adapt to different situations and willing to develop their own initiatives and projects
