Project descriptionAs a volunteer, you will work on creating different activities (workshops, events) for the local youth and residents of the foundation Friedehorst. You will focus on helping with the work of the organizations by organizing local events and workshops. These events and workshops will focus on the topics of acceptance of differences, collaboration, inclusion, teamwork, and team spirit, helping each other, fostering empathy to increase solidarity amongst youth. You will be encouraged to create these workshops about different topics depending on your interests and skills and the needs of the community. You will be responsible to create content for our target groups to start movements and promote ideas about solidarity and teamwork. Together with the other volunteers and with support from our organization, you will organize 2 bigger events in the 5th and 10th month of your volunteering for the people in Friedehorst.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangementsYou will be accommodated in a house just for ESC volunteers in Bremen, where you will have your own room. Bremen is a city in North-West Germany (around 500.000 inhabitants), not far from Hamburg and the North Sea coast. Bremen is a vibrant, multi-cultural city with a lot of young people and both a historical center and newer areas of towns. As an ESC volunteer, you will receive health insurance, monthly pocket money, and money for food and other expenses. Travel costs will be reimbursed depending on the travel distance
Training during the projectThe coordinating organization NaturKultur e.V will give two educations about working with different groups and also how to work in an international context. We, the hosting organization Friedehorst Tailhabe Leben, will show you how to work with our specific target groups and also show you how our values in working with people. You will get also two seminars from the German National Agency (on arrival and midterm trainings). You will also have access to a German course once a week.
Volunteer profileWe are searching for a young person between 18-30 years old (on the day you start your volunteering), have a basic level of understanding, speaking and writing in German, have a good level of understanding, speaking and writing in English, a high level of motivation, self-development, and readiness to work with different age groups, are an openminded person, motivated to work in a team and with people from different religious, cultural and social background, and are pro-active, showing initiative and are able to work independently.
