Stories of volunteers - Simona

Who are volunteers? Actually, they are simple people around us, coming from different life and professional backgrounds and doing volunteering because they feel like, and for some of them volunteering remains an important part of their life

What do you actually do as a volunteer? In what organization?

I have been a search and rescue dog handler for almost 10 years. I am a part of Cynological association IZAR, which I am also president of. Our team is prepared 24/7 to help police forces in finding missing persons. When our help is required, we are usually notified by a dispatcher and sent to the search area.

How and when did you start volunteering?
Dogs have always been an important part of my life and now, when I am able to even help others together with my dogs, I am fulfilled in every way.

Why volunteering is important for you? How it benefits the society you live in?

I have 4 dogs, all search and rescue ones and they are the biggest  love and passion of my life. It is a way of life and I would not change it in any way.
