Grants for Democracy

Budżet programu „Obywatele dla demokracji" wynosi 150 milionów złotych
PLN 150 million – this is the budget of the „Citizens for Democracy” programme operated by the Stefan Batory Foundation. The funds come from the EEA Financial Mechanism.

The aim of the 2013-2016 programme is to support the development of civic society and to enhance the participation of non-governmental organisations in building social justice, democracy and sustainable development.

Polish non-governmental organisations can apply for funding in their own right or with other entities: from Poland, from the 14 other countries in which EEA funds are operating, from the Donor States (Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway), non-EEA countries bordering on Poland (Belarus, Ukraine, Russia) or in partnership with inter-governmental organisations.

Three types of activities will be funded under the programme: thematic projects (funding ranging from PLN 50,000 to 350,000), systemic projects (from PLN 300,000 to 2,000,000) and bilateral cooperation projects.

Three calls for proposals have been planned under the programme: in 2013, 2014 and 2015. The first call for proposals of thematic projects will be open from 1 September to 15 October 2013, systemic project proposals: 16 October – 15 November 2013, and bilateral cooperation proposals: by the first day of each month within the period from 1 September 2013 to 1 November 2015.
