Maltese EU Council Presidency: 1 January - 30 June 2017

From 1st January to 30 June 2017 Malta will hold the presidency of the Council of the European Union for the first time since the country joined the EU in 2004.

The Maltese Presidency is the third of the Trio Presidency with The Netherlands and Slovakia. Together with the European Commission and the European Youth Forum, the three countries have agreed 'Enabling all young people to engage in a diverse, connected and inclusive Europe' as the overarching theme for the 18 months Structured Dialogue participation of young people.

In the youth sector, the Maltese Presidency's focus will be on the role of young people in the framework of the New Skills Agenda, the implementation of the main recommendations of youth conferences, the 5th cycle of the structured dialogue and the mid-term review of the Youth Strategy.
