The Internship program at the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations

The High Commissioner for Human Rights offers international internships for graduate students and young graduates in fields related to UN missions.

UN missions  are related to international law, political science, history, social sciences and human rights. These courses are designed to help young graduates to better understand current issues of human rights at the international level and enable them to become familiar with the duties of the Office. Another objective is to benefit the Office of the assistance and contribution of outstanding young students and graduates.

Among the duties of Trainees include research on issues of human rights, the preparation of reports and analysis documents, technical assistance for meetings, preventing delays in investigations and technical cooperation activities and support.
Applicants for internships must be recommended by an academic institution and have a good command of at least two of the six official UN languages​​: English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian and Chinese.

The minimum duration of an internship is three months with a possible renewal for a further three months. The annual deadlines are April 30 and October 31.

Internships at the United Nations are not paid. Travel costs and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern.
