Cluj-Napoca (Romania): the European Youth Capital 2015
During the one year-program, Cluj-Napoca wants to connect local and European youth by stimulating startups, funding, volunteering, tourism and participation in projects and events. Organisations are invited to include their projects in the European Youth Capital calendar, and young people can submit their ideas or register to be a volunteer.
The types of events that are included in the Cluj-Napoca program can involve participation of the local community, international youth events, virtual projects, projects focused on work and student exchanges. Examples of projects are Volunteers Academy, Participative Budgeting and CONNECTOR, a happening on informal learning.
The European Youth Capital title was launched by the European Youth Forum to encourage the development of new ideas and innovative projects with regards to the active participation of young people in society and to foster the co-operation on youth policies at local and European level. The title is awarded through a competition of programs opened for cities around 49 countries.
