Running cities around the world is another way of doing tourism.

It’s known by everybody that nowadays running or jogging is fashionable and smart. Parks, gardens, cities and mountains, are becoming the scenery of a sport which is accessible to everybody, and that you only need to  have some good shoes and open the lungs.

One of the main goals of people who run , is to sign up for a popular race, half marathons, marathons or even Iron man or even Ultra trails or ultra marathons. Spain it’s increasing in the enrolment of runners in these races, but how about if you can discover cities, countries and continents?


Running a long distance race or what is the same, 42,195 metres is growing in popularity. The most important ones in Spain are in  Vitoria Martin Fiz, Bilbao, San Sebastian, Barcelona, ​​Gran Canarias and the San Silvestre’s New Year day.
However, the queen in the internationally scene is New York’s, where about 50,000 people participate and Paris where they meets around 35,000 runners each year. We can also mention Tokyo, Porto, Buenos Aires and a long list of very interesting countries. You can check many sites to find the city in which you feel like running.


In each continent you’ll be able to find this type of races, although not for faint people but where human effort and overcoming extreme meet together the world's best runners. Find out where these men and women at this world map are tested.


These types of races exceed the 42km. Ones of the most common distances are 50 km, 80 km, 100 km and 160 km. Other distances include 24h races or several days. In Spain we can find in Formentera and the queen of all of them, the Transgrancanaria, 125 km and with a vertical positive drop of 7,500 m.

And now you know, put on your runners, prepare your suitcase and don’t put limits with your kilometres.
