La Palma del Condado, Ciudad Amigable

Goodbye, sweet invisible lovers, Sorry I was not asleep in your arms. I came by those kisses only; Keep lips if I return. (Luis Cernuda)

The Friendly City of Spanish village of La Palma del Condado honors this poem by Luis Cernuda, where she, our village, is like an invisible nest of lovers nests, who never stops being built as a new place for generations of children, youth, men, women and elderly. And where we need to leave a good taste on the lips for coming generations.

In fact, the City of La Palma del Condado confirmed at the beginning of this year this commitment by signing their entry into Global Network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities promoted by the World Health Organization.

But what is or how it makes a Friendly City?

Simple, it is a community in which a range of healthy factors converge: healthy outdoor spaces and buildings, transportation, housing, social participation, respect and social inclusion, civic participation and employment, communication and information and community support and health services. All this factors affects the whole population and more especially those most vulnerable: seniors, disabled and children.

It is, as always, try to work together for some goals of common interest, goals which we carry always think that it is possible to be further improved... as an Spanish comic said, life itself, now smiles at me, okay, I can say that I am happy, but what I want in life is to get laughs!.

It is the commitment of La Palma del Condado citizens and the reason why we are working jointly with experts from “Guadalinfo” and from “National Health Institute Carlos III”. They are helping us to reach in our villa a pilot project named as Friendly City 2.0.. With this project and throughout web and smart phones, our citizens will be able to recognize risk map pollution, accessibility, hot spots, health impact of consumer habits and the use of technologies information, among other things...

In other words, we want our citizens not only to smile, but take out laughs to life!
