Rights of European citizens (I)

European Parliament
Here we have collected some of these rights so you are always informed

The European Union on its territory gives much importance of the respect for human rights. These rights are collected in the Charter of Fundamental Rights, which recognizes a range of personal and social rights, civil, political, economic citizens and EU residents, enshrining in Community legislation.

This card is based on the general principles contained in the European Convention on Human Rights of 1950, and other rights from the Community Charter of the Fundamental Rights of Workers, the Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights.

Here we have collected some of these rights:

Equal treatment irrespective of racial or ethnic origin

As recorded by the EU: The objective of this legislation is to combat discrimination on the grounds of racial or ethnic origin. Therefore this Directive lays down minimum requirements for implementing the principle of equal treatment between persons in the European Union (EU). By discouraging discrimination, it should help to increase participation in economic and social life and reduce social exclusion.

Framework  programme on solidarity and management of migration flows for the period 2007-2013

As recorded by the EU: The framework programme is designed to improve management of migratory flows at the level of the European Union and to strengthen solidarity between Member States. It has four dimensions. The first concerns integrated management of external borders, with the setting up of an External Borders Fund. The second concerns asylum policy, with the prolongation of the European Refugee Fund. The third concerns the social, civic and cultural integration of Non-EU Member Country nationals, with the setting up of a European Integration Fund. The fourth concerns the fight against illegal immigration and the return of Non-EU Member Country nationals residing illegally in the EU, with the setting up of a European Return Fund.
