Have you already visited Cascais - the European Youth Capital 2018?

Cascais, a coastal resort town just west of Lisbon, has been nominated the European Youth Capital 2018. This famous Portugal’s vacation spot, where around 40% of inhabitants are under 35 years old, has so much to offer!

The European Youth Capital (EYC) is a title awarded to a European city for the period of one year, during which it is given the chance to showcase, its youth-related cultural, social, political and economic life and development.

Cascais’ Vision for 2018 is to combine global and local dimensions, towards the process of social transformation, under the theme ‘Glocal Youth’. Cascais views the EYC as an opportunity to contribute to a more cohesive Europe and highlight the importance of an intergenerational dialogue with a long-term vision of the world.

The charming town of Cascais already offers an interesting and dynamic environment for young people. Besides all the natural wealth, heritage and artistic and cultural events, Cascais hosts a variety of activities for youth all around the year. In Cascais young people can find: 2 universities, a Municipal Council for Youth Policy; a specific Youth department in the Town Hall; 38 active youth associations; a network of 4 youth information centers; hundreds of sports organisations and infrastructures and so much more.
