Education is a big issue in Germany. That’s why for many young Europeans, Germany is the country of choice when it comes to learning a trade. How do you get on a vocational training programme? For example, with “The job of my life“.

Vocational training in Germany won’t just have you studying at school – you’ll also receive a training contract with a company for hands-on experience and all the professional know-how you’ll need for your future career. Depending on your chosen occupation, this dual vocational training system takes between two and three-and-a-half years. And of course you’ll be paid while you work.

“The job of my life”, a joint project of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the Federal Employment Agency, will find you a (dual-system) vocational training position in Germany. The programme includes language courses, extensive advice and support, an internship in a company and financial support. You can start “The job of my life” with any type of school leaving certificate.

No need to worry about finances – “The job of my life” will pay for a preparatory German language course in your home country, help with the cost of travel and relocation, finance a language course in Germany to prepare you for your internship, and provide further financial support to supplement your trainee pay. In addition, you’ll have access to designated contacts for advice and support in all professional or personal matters. They can also put you in touch with other participants from your home country.
